Welcome to the Anderson Manor
Originally built in 1739 and expanded and remodeled many times over the centuries, Anderson Manor stands as one of the historic treasures of Monforte da Beira in central Portugal.
In 1908, the last King of Portugal stayed at the manor during a hunting trip as the guest of the property’s owner at the time, a Count of Portugal. Special furniture was commissioned for the royal visit, and today guests can stay in the King’s Room, which still features the original bed, armoire, dresser, and bedside tables prepared for the king’s stay.
Bob and Catherine Anderson purchased Anderson Manor in December 2023 and carefully restored and remodeled the property while preserving its rich history and character. Today, Anderson Manor welcomes guests from around the world to experience the beauty of rural Portugal, comfortable accommodations, home-cooked meals, running retreats, pickleball, olive oil, antiques, and the charm of traditional Portuguese village life.

The King Room
The King’s Room is the most historic accommodation at Anderson Manor. In 1908, the last King of Portugal stayed in this very room during a hunting trip as the guest of the manor’s owner, a Count of Portugal. The room still features the custom furniture prepared for the royal visit, including the original bed, armoire, dresser, and bedside tables. Combining royal history with modern comfort, the King’s Room offers guests a rare opportunity to sleep where Portuguese history was made.
